Artist Statement
I am a mixed-media artist based in Los Angeles, California, whose practice examines my mixed Chicano identity through themes of home, belonging, and public infrastructure. My work investigates how geographical boundaries shape personal and collective narratives, particularly within historically marginalized urban communities.
Working across installation and two-dimensional formats, I incorporate city maps, cultural symbols, and everyday objects to reflect the layered experiences of Los Angeles communities. Emphasizing color, texture, and composition, my work explores how urban environments hold histories of migration, resilience, and displacement.
Informed by cultural landmarks, architecture, and archaeology, my practice reconnects with Indigenous roots while addressing contemporary issues including inequitable urban planning, barriers to generational wealth, and mental health stigma within Latinx communities. Using materials such as acrylic and house paint, tape, fabric, and reclaimed wood, I aim to create accessible work that educates, uplifts, and fosters dialogue.
My practice spans drawing, painting, installation, and mural work, and I have exhibited widely throughout California.
